About 700 tons of food products are sold weekly at weekend fairs in Almaty. Of these: more than 340 tons — meat and meat products, about 280 tons — vegetables and fruits, over 40 tons — dairy products, about 40 tons - groceries and pickles. With the onset of autumn, the products of the new crop of farmers from Almaty and the Almaty region are presented at the fairs.
The organizer of the fairs is SEC Almaty. Since the beginning of the year, 316 fairs have been held in the city, where over 330 farmers sell more than 1,000 items of goods. The products come directly from agricultural producers and processing enterprises without intermediaries, which helps keep prices below market levels.
Fairs are held every Saturday and Sunday from 09:00 to 18:00 in the following areas of the city:
• Almaly district — Masanchi St., between Gogol St. and Aiteke bi St.;
• Bostandyk district — md. Kazakhfilm, Isinalieva St.;
• Auezovsky district — Otegen Batyr St., below Abai Ave.;
• Medeu district — Mendykulov Boulevard, corner of Bekturov Street;
• Zhetysu district — MD. Kulager, Serikova St., 2.
More than 30 thousand people visit the fairs every week.
In addition to weekend fairs, new crop products at affordable prices are also presented on the shelves of the city's retail chains.
As part of the Bereke Fest republican campaign, retail chains allocate special zones for Kazakhstani producers, which allows them to sell products at below-market prices, support domestic production and help stabilize prices for socially important food products.
Earlier, as part of the Bereke Fest campaign, memoranda of cooperation were signed between the Almaty Entrepreneurship and Investment Department, SEC Almaty and Magnum, Small and Toimart retail chains. The agreements provide for a reduction of the trade premium in supermarkets to 10% for all items of socially important food products.
