The number of Almaty residents and guests of the city attending weekend fairs selling food products has reached 45,000 people per week. The increase in attendance by 50% is associated with the onset of the spring period, the expansion of the range of fresh products and the modernization of the fair infrastructure: new stalls have been installed, sanitary conditions have been improved, convenient routes for visitors have been formed.
To date, over 300 agricultural producers and farmers of Almaty and Almaty region present their products at weekend fairs. Almost 800 tons of food products are sold weekly by the participants of the fairs – fresh meat, eggs, vegetables, fruits, fermented dairy products, sausages, honey and other products – over 1,000 items in total.
The organizer of the fairs is JSC SEC Almaty. As part of the price stabilization mechanisms, socially important food products are sold at fairs at prices 15-20% lower than market prices.
