This year, the mechanical engineering industry is expected to increase the production of domestic cars to 149,000 units, or 5% more than in 2024. 134 thousand cars were produced last year. This is reported by the Kzinform agency with reference to Primeminister.kz.
The growth was ensured by the implementation of several projects, including the construction of the Astana Motors Manufacturing Kazakhstan multi-brand plant in Almaty. Chery, Haval and Changan cars will be assembled here. 202 billion tenge has been invested in the project, it is planned to produce up to 120 thousand cars per year and create over 3.6 thousand jobs. The expected multiplier effect is the development of enterprises producing automotive components. A KIA Kazakhstan plant with a capacity of 70,000 vehicles per year is also being built in Kostanay. Investments amount to 90 billion tenge, and the future staff is 1.5 thousand people. The plant will strengthen the position of the region as the center of the automotive industry.
As for related industries, the Almaty Autoparts Production enterprise has started operating in the industrial zone of Almaty. It produces up to 100,000 sets of car seats per year. They are supplied for Hyundai models and are planned to be used in new enterprises..
The government's policy of supporting the mechanical engineering industry, including the automotive industry, is implemented through the creation of investment clusters. Of the 17 major projects forming the industrial framework of the economy, 9 are overseen by the Ministry of Industry and Construction.
