Almaty has seen a steady increase in industrial production. For the period from January to May 2025, the volume of manufactured products reached 976.2 billion tenge. This was reported by the city department of entrepreneurship and investment.
The largest increase was demonstrated by mechanical engineering - by 36.3%, reaching a volume of 366.1 billion tenge and taking a share of 46.7% in the manufacturing industry. In the structure of mechanical engineering, the main part falls on the automotive industry - 36.1%.
Growth in volumes was also recorded in other key industries: the production of other non-metallic mineral products increased by 25.6% to 47 billion tenge, printing activities - by 27.3% to 25 billion tenge, pharmaceutical production - by 14.2% to 11.2 billion tenge, clothing production - by 18.8% to 3.7 billion tenge, and wood product production - by 35.2% to 3.4 billion tenge.
Today, 144 large and medium-sized industrial enterprises are registered in Almaty, the majority of which are located in the Zhetysu, Turksib and Alatau districts.
The Almaty Industrial Zone and the Park of Innovative Technologies (PIT) SEZ are actively developing. In 2025, the Industrial Zone plans to launch 11 projects worth 135.4 billion tenge with the creation of 4 thousand jobs. In the SEZ "PIT" it is planned to commission 6 projects worth 18.5 billion tenge and create 415 jobs.
