Almaty Investment Forum 2021, organized by the Akimat of Almaty, SEC Almaty JSC, NCE Atameken and Kazakhstan Growth Forum, was held online on December 2, 2021
The speakers of AIF 2021 were the Top Managers of authorities, ministries and departments of the Republic of Kazakhstan, banks, enterprises, IT and investment companies, foreign experts from various business sectors.
Forum was held in an online format and generated more than 7000 hits, more than 1800 people took part. One of the most popular sessions to watch was a teleconference on the theme of “Mega-City of the New Silk Road" with the participation of Akim of Almaty city Bakytzhan Sagintayev, mayors and representatives of the cities of Bishkek, Kazan, Samarkand, St. Petersburg, Istanbul and Shenzhen. During the discussion, the following Almaty initiatives were proposed to develop cooperation between the cities of the New Silk Road: the creation of an innovative ecosystem for the joint development of start-ups and technologies, the development of a transport and logistics hub, the tourism potential of Almaty and innovative companies on the platform of cities under the "One Belt and One Road" initiative.
Forum also discussed the main growth points of Almaty, priority areas for development, the current state of business, new opportunities for the city, and issues of expansion of international cooperation. Particular attention was paid to the challenges the city is facing and the discussion of solutions to help overcome these challenges.
Beyond that, the exhibition "Projects of the Year" was presented at the event, within the framework of which 24 projects worth over 2,260 billion tenge were presented. Among the projects were such as: gasification of the Almaty thermal power plant; Smart Almaty; construction of an international airport terminal in Almaty; electric public transport; Almaty Digital Twin.
The Almaty Investment Forum has been held annually since 2013 and is an exclusive platform for discussing topical issues of the city's development and increasing the investment attractiveness of the city.
