Weekly attendance at weekend fairs in Almaty reaches 50,000 visitors

With the arrival of autumn, farmers from Almaty and the Almaty region are presenting new harvest products at the weekend fairs. In this regard, attendance at the fairs has increased by 10% and currently reaches 50,000 visitors weekly.

The increase in the number of visitors is also attributed to the opening of a new fair in the Zhetysu district. In total, the fairs are held in five districts of the city — Almaly, Bostandyk, Auezov, Medeu, and Zhetysu. The organizer of the events is SEC “Almaty”.

Furthermore, since the beginning of the year, the number of farmers and agricultural producers participating in the weekend fairs has increased by 10%, reaching 330, who offer more than 1,000 types of goods. The products are supplied directly by agricultural producers and processing enterprises without intermediaries, which allows prices to remain below market levels.

In order to meet the growing demand, SEC “Almaty” will open an additional fair in the Almaly district next week. The location will be announced separately.

The fairs are held every Saturday and Sunday from 09:00 to 18:00 at the following addresses:

• Almaly district — Masanchi street, between Gogol street and Aiteke bi street;
• Bostandyk district — Kazakhfilm microdistrict, Isinaliyev street;
• Auezov district — Otegen Batyr street, below Abay avenue;
• Medeu district — Mendykulov boulevard, corner of Bekturov street;
• Zhetysu district — Kulager microdistrict, 2 Serikov street.

In addition to the weekend fairs, new harvest products at affordable prices are also available in the city’s retail chains. As part of the national campaign “Bereke Fest,” retail networks are designating special areas for Kazakhstani producers. This initiative promotes the sale of products at reduced prices, supports domestic production, and helps stabilize prices for socially significant food products.

Within the framework of the campaign, memorandums of cooperation have been signed between the Department of Entrepreneurship and Investments of Almaty, SEC “Almaty”, and the retail chains Magnum, Small, and Toimart. The documents provide for a reduction of the trade markup to 10% on all categories of socially significant food products.

The “Bereke Fest” campaign will continue until the end of October of the current year.
