Since the beginning of the year, residents and guests of Almaty have purchased more than 22,800 tons of agricultural products at weekend fairs.
Of these: about 11.5 thousand tons — vegetables and fruits, more than 7.3 thousand tons — meat and meat products, over 2 thousand tons — dairy products, 1.8 thousand tons – groceries and pickles. In total, more than 1,000 items of goods are presented at the fairs.
Weekend fairs are aimed at supporting domestic producers, expanding public access to high-quality food products at affordable prices, as well as developing urban retail infrastructure. The products come directly from agricultural producers and processing enterprises, without intermediaries, which helps keep prices below market levels. The fairs are organized by the Almaty Social and Entrepreneurial Corporation (SEC Almaty).
Since the beginning of the year, more than 210 fairs have been held in five districts of the city. Fairs are held weekly, on Saturdays and Sundays, from 08:00 to 18:00.
On average, over 800 tons of products are sold per weekend, which comes from 328 farmers and agricultural producers in Almaty and the Almaty region.
