311 charging stations for electric vehicles will be installed in Almaty by the end of the year

The Social and Entrepreneurial Corporation "Almaty" has allocated 311 land plots for the installation of electric charging stations. At each site, domestic investors who have passed the competitive selection will place one gas station with a capacity of 60 kW or more, designed for two parking spaces. In total, after all stations are put into operation, 622 new parking spaces for charging electric vehicles will appear in the city.

The minimum investor's contribution to one plot will amount to 10 million tenge. At the same time, the maximum cost per 1 kW of battery charging for the population will not exceed 100 tenge, including VAT.

The plots were transferred to investors for a period of 4 years with a preferential right to extension.

The installation of charging stations is planned in places of mass attraction of citizens — on the territory of markets, parks, cafes and other public spaces.

All stations will be put into operation by the end of this year.

To date, over 300 EHS systems have been installed on private territories in Almaty. Taking into account the new facilities, the total number of charging stations in the city will exceed 600 units.

The construction of the ESS is carried out within the framework of the "Roadmap for the creation of the necessary infrastructure for electric vehicles in all major cities by 2029." The project is also being implemented in connection with the need to improve the environmental situation in Almaty, as well as taking into account the growing number of electric cars in the metropolis.

According to the Bureau of National Statistics, as of April 1, 2025, 8,385 electric vehicles were registered in Almaty. Compared to the same period last year, their number increased 1.5 times.
