A subsidiary of SEC Almaty JSC, MFO Almaty LLP, issued 106 concessional loans to small and microbusiness entities in Almaty in 2024. As part of the regional entrepreneurship development program "Almaty Business-2025", beginning and existing entrepreneurs received loans for business development at the rate of 2% and 6%* per annum.
The total volume of loans issued exceeded 3.6 billion tenge. The limit of financing per borrower was 73,840,000 million tenge, the maximum loan term is 7 years.
In terms of areas, entrepreneurs with production projects received the largest number of loans – a third of the total number, healthcare projects came in second place – 20%, and education and public services came in third (11% each). This is followed by the creative economy (8.5%), tourism and support for social entrepreneurs (6% each).
Since the approval of the Almaty Business-2025 program in 2019, the Almaty MFO has financed about 600 projects worth over 13.3 billion tenge. Most of the loans were issued for the implementation of industrial projects (28%) and healthcare projects (15%), as well as for the support of social entrepreneurship (11%). The latter received loans at a minimum rate of 2% per annum.
"Over 2,400 jobs have been created in the city as part of preferential loans to MFIs. In addition to stimulating entrepreneurship and increasing employment, the Almaty Business 2025 program also actively contributes to increasing tax revenues to the local budget," said Altai Ismagambetov, Chairman of the Board of the MFO Almaty.
