S&P Global upgrades the ESG rating of Almaty SEC

The international rating agency S&P Global, as part of the annual assessment of the activities of companies in the context of sustainable development S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (S&P CSA), assigned the Almaty SEC for 2024 a rating of “20”, which is more than twice the result of the previous year .

SEC "Almaty" received 22 points for management and economic aspects (Governance & Economic), 20 points for the social aspect (Social) and 18 points for the environmental aspect (Environmental)

"The implementation of ESG principles in the activities of SEC Almaty is one of the KPIs of the corporation's development program for 2023-2025. We understand that today ESG is an important and integral part of the development of any company, as it helps to identify and manage risks, increase social responsibility and long–term sustainability of the company, as well as gain access to capital," said Zoya Kasenova, Deputy Chairman of the Board of SEC Almaty.

In 2024, SEC Almaty and its subsidiaries implemented a number of ESG-oriented projects. Thus, SEC "Almaty" provides 28 social entrepreneurs with premises for rent on preferential terms. As part of the infrastructure support for business in the territory of the Almaty Industrial Zone (a subsidiary of SEC Almaty), the country's first lithium-ion battery recycling workshop has been launched. In addition, the credit organization "Almaty Finance", which is part of the SEC "Almaty", financed the construction of a private comprehensive school for 420 educational places in the actively developing Nauryzbay district of Almaty.

It should be noted that at the moment, SPC Almaty remains the only social and entrepreneurial corporation in Kazakhstan that has an international rating in the field of sustainable development, as well as an independent assessment in the field of corporate governance.
