On May 28, 2025, a solemn capsule laying ceremony was held in the Industrial Zone of Almaty as part of the start of construction of the first paint and varnish coating plant in the Republic of Kazakhstan, focused on the needs of the automotive and manufacturing industries.
The project is being implemented by Sleipnir Technologies as part of the formation of the Almaty production cluster with the support of the Almaty City Akimat, as well as the AOM SDF I B.V Foundation, which is part of the Baiterek National Management Holding.
The plant will be located in the Industrial Zone of Almaty. The production capacity of the enterprise will be from 6,000 tons of products per year, and the total area of the plant will be 11,000 m2. The plant will also create Kazakhstan's first specialized laboratory for paint and varnish materials, providing product quality control, development of new formulations and adaptation of formulas to the needs of local manufacturers.
The product range will include:
— epoxy, acrylic and alkyd primers;
— acrylic, alkyd and polyurethane enamels;
— varnishes.
The main objective of the project is to import substitution and provide Kazakhstani automotive and industrial enterprises with local paint and varnish materials adapted to the climatic and operational conditions of the region.
The Sleipnir Technologies project is being implemented against the backdrop of steady growth in automotive and industrial production in Kazakhstan. Currently, the needs of these industries are covered by imports. The new plant will partially localize supplies and form an internal production chain that meets international requirements.
