Providing citizens with affordable housing remains one of the priorities of the Almaty city Akimat. Special attention is paid to waiting lists for loan and rental apartments.
Deputy Akim of Almaty Beibut Shakhanov spoke about the implementation of housing programs at the site of the Regional Communications Service.
According to the speaker, work in the field of housing construction has significantly intensified in recent years - thousands of Almaty residents, who have been waiting for their apartments for many years, have already celebrated a housewarming party.
"Today, seven residential buildings designed for 594 apartments are under construction in the Kalkaman-2 microdistrict. Next year, the keys to the new housing will be given to the citizens who are on the waiting list," Beibut Shakhanov said.
In addition, 885 apartments have been purchased as part of the state rental housing program, and another 2,265 apartments are planned to be purchased by the end of the year.
Special attention is also paid to the Housing Renovation program. In the first nine months of this year, 390 owners of dilapidated houses moved into new comfortable apartments. Almaty residents received new housing on a room-for-room basis or monetary compensation based on the market value of their former real estate.
The largest number of residents were resettled in:
- Turksib district – 127 people,
- Zhetysuskom – 107,
- Almalinsky – 58,
- Alatau – 42,
- Auezovsky – 26,
- Medeusky – 18,
- Bostandyksky – 12 people.
Since the beginning of the year, 12 dilapidated houses have been demolished in Almaty, and six more are scheduled to be demolished by the end of the year. In total, by the end of 2025, the number of displaced residents is planned to increase to 667 people.
"Housing renovation is not just the demolition of old buildings, but a comprehensive effort to renovate the urban environment and improve the quality of life of Almaty residents," the deputy akim emphasized.
